The Director Reviews... Erotika and Ninn's Sex

This review follows the the Imperial Scale.

So I rented Ninn's Sex today along with McCallum's Erotika.

I read the traffic and thought I knew what I was getting into: "Sex sucks and Erotika rules..."

Well, yes and no.

The wife and I started with Erotika. Got halfway into it, and had to turn it off. Just could not get into it. Mrs. Director (MD) couldn't figure out why they didn't hire a voice-over actress to handle Sam's voiceovers -- they were sooo flat and wooden. (Not to mention pretentious...)

Funniest scene: Rebecca Bardoux told she is driving "too damn fast!" -- Cutaway to the speedometer, and it should she's doing a crazy 40 MPH. Speeds like that could kill ya on a deserted desert highway.

E.Z. Rider, whom I generally like a lot, blew in this film. All yelling and screaming and crazy hair. No nuance. I liked him much better in those "evil sorority" flicks he did with Jon Dough last year.

And what erotic value could be derived from Sam masturbating (ok, could be erotic) intercut with EZ as the abusive dad driving himself off the cliff, with the car exploding as Sam's orgasm does?

So far, any attempts to get me hard have failed.

Sam looked bad, I thought. Her tits used to be so nice... I just couldn't take them. And Vince Voyeur... It seemed like the two of them were having hair flipping contests... in the interest of time, we turned it off as soon as TT Boy and Rebecca started to go at it. (gotta get up early for work tomorrow...)

Ninn's Sex was voted Best of 94 by AVN and Worst of 94 (if not all time) by our own Imperator. So, I had to judge for myself.

Didn't make it past the first scene. What is with all the preteniousness? The film slooked GREAT. 1000 times better than Erotika. On par with Blake for looks. But the script... *blech*

Didn't make it past the first scene with Gerry Pike and Sunset Thomas.

The wife had never seen a tape from the very beginning before, and was shocked that the preview for New Wave Hookers 4 (a) existed, and (b) was so long and explicit.

Good point, said I, as I got to wondering why I shold bother to get the movie at all. I saw all the pairings and cum shots in the trailer... why bother? Looked interesting though. Nioce to see ol' Greg is using that same old Plugz song... too bad this one wasn't shot on film. I guess he's not getting the money he expects...

I've used the word pretentious a few times, and it's got me thinking.

What's wrong with a script that is just that.. a script. No overtones, no "awakening of a woman's sexuality" themes, just a story about people and how or why they fuck.

Legend 3, to me, was everything a porn flick needed -- attractive players, a funny (if not corny) script adequately acted, good sex, craftsmanlike editing... what else was it missing?

Sex had a nice look, dull dialog, Gerry Pike (act? I'm supposed to act?) a silly story line.

At least NTH2:Justine had a basic storyline with an interesting twist or two... nothing far fetched or pretnetious. Just a classic porn scenario done a little differently.

Oh well... I've been on-line too long and *I* have to get up in the morning too....

Night all...
