VCA's Platinum line has made some better-than-average flicks in the short time it has been around. Craig in particular has caught my eye as a director. He did "Shades of Blue" (which I also reviewed) and "Hard Talk." Both movies were excellent. They managed a slightly different flip on the standard sex we see time and again. A real plot, and lotsa heat. Well, everybody's gotta screw up sometime (although its possible that this *was* his first film and got better, release dates are not my forte). "Seduction" is about a publisher, Paris, who is seduced by a writer of erotic fiction, played by Horner. It's still hard to see Horner in something besides the dozens of nerd/geek/accountant/repressive father roles he's done. It was managed with great success in "Shades", making him into a regular guy, but I just can't buy the slick, domineering role he is stuck into here. Maybe it was those horn-rimmed glasses. On the plus side, the movie is shot nicely on film, and the sets are ex- cellent. You can tell these guys had a real budget. In terms of camera work and the "look" of the scenes, all is of high quality for porn. Lots of technical merit here, but it lacks a spark to really make it work. The movie opens with Horner getting a shy Cassidy to open up sexually and then they screw. Paris watches, and we realize that she's actually reading a book Horner wrote. It's a pretty good scene, one of the two in the movie. Horner comes in for his interview and he makes it clear he's coming on to Vicky. Vicky goes home and fucks husband Dough. Intercut with their scene are shots of a Paris/Horner tryst she's fantasizing about. Despite some effort of the part of the performers to make things sizzle, it's just ordinary. Mike then calls while Vicky and hubby are asleep and gets her to masturbate for him. Unless the notion of Horner talking dirty does something for you, this isn't all that exciting. He invites her to a party. A couple (Sharise and Nick E.) proceed to have sex (including some anal) as the entertainment. Not too bad, but not too good either. It's okay as filler. The best part of this scene is watching Teri Diver coming on to Victoria, who obviously isn't sure how to deal with advances from a female. As the party ends, Horner drags Vicky off to his writing desk, where cuts away her dress with scissors (ooh, aah) and has her call up her hubby for a little phone sex. Now here, *finally*, things get pretty hot. I like to hear women talk dirty, so this is a godsend to hear Paris, who normally sticks to moans once the sex has started, saying "fuck me" and "cock". As this goes on, Diver returns, strips, and moves in on Vicky's exposed pussy. Even better now, Paris is talking dirty while getting eaten out, and we've a slight turn on the regular lesbian seduction scene. Anyway, she comes, hubby comes, and I almost come too, because this is easily the best scene in the flick. Well, after a bit more plot development, Horner and Paris do sex each other in a scene that is dull except for Vicky gets to wear a blindfold. And there is a twist ending to the whole thing, but by now I don't really care all that much. Here's hoping Craig does better in his other efforts, like "Shades" and "Talk". I give it 2 stars out of 5. Rent it only for the first and next-to-last scenes, unless you're a big Victoria Paris fan. 1 lesbian, 1 anal, no facials. semper fi, Jammer Jim Miller Texas A&M University '89 and '91 ******************************************************************************** * I don't speak for UH, which is too bad, because they could use the help. * *"Become one with the Student Billing System. *BE* the Student Billing System."* * "Power finds its way to those who take a stand.
