But here are some suggestions: "Boys in the Sand" (1971) -- classic movie about Fire Island and sex in the dunes. Director Wakefield Poole's autobiography just came out, and it's excellent! "LA Plays Itself" (1972) -- Fred Halsted's classic take on the S&M/leather community in the 1970s, with Halsted's subtle, saracastic indictment of that community. "Sextool" (1972) -- Halsted's other masterpiece; a party hosted by a drag queen leads the participants on a variety of sexual journeys and self-discoveries. "That Boy" (1974) -- HIS Video used to release films like this all the time; oh how the mighty have fallen!; a gay man befriends a blind gay teenager, and fantsizes about the images the boy sees in his sexual dreams. "Left-Handed" (1972) -- Jack Deveau and Jaap Penraat's story about an antique dealer, his hustler boyfriend, and their drug dealer -- and the three-way marriage that ensues. "Turned On" (1982) -- Steve Scott did this film for Le Salon. It was filmed in San Francisco's gay bath house, Club Baths. It's a cultural artifiact of late 70s/early 80s gay sexual life. "A Night at the Adonis" (1978) -- Deveau's take on a XXX theater and the sex that occurs there. The Adonis was a real gay theater in Manhattan. "Non-Stop" (1982) -- filmed on the infamous piers where gay men used to go for sex in New York City. Complete with semi-truck trailers! These piers are now all gone... I'd love to include Michael Zen's seminal "Falconhead" (1972), but it's pure fantasy rather than slice-of-life. (FYI: A falcon-headed bodybuilder lures men through a mirror into another dimension where they live out sexual, narcissistic fantasies.) Tim #1 Penis size isn't everything, but it's a lot when you don't have much choice.
